Brennan, T et al. (2009). English Anxieties Brighton: Photoworks/Ffotogallery

In 2009 Brennan was the first visual artist to hold a residence at the Mass Observation Archive at the University of Sussex. The research, (supported by the University of Sussex, Photoworks, Ffotogallery, European Centre for Photographic Research at the University of Wales, Newport and funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Arts Council England, and Arts Council Wales) focused upon the early history of the Mass Observation Unit and the cultural impact of the nation's fear of invasion in the 1930’s.

The research surfaced as a multimedia solo exhibition including photographs, curated artefacts, and the publication, touring Hansard Gallery, Southampton (UK), Ffotogallery, Cardiff (UK) and the ‘London Art Book Fair’, Whitechapel Art Gallery, London (UK).
