Feral Press
An independent imprint of artist-led publishing.
Feral Press is an imprint founded by artists Tim Brennan and Paul Wakelam, operating deliberately outside the traditional ISBN system.
Functioning as both a publishing venture and an artistic practice, it offers an off-grid platform for artist books, theoretical texts, and poetry objects that resist categorisation — works that are provisional, performative, and situated at the shifting edges of discipline.
The press is carefully curated, not open for submission.
Brennan and Wakelam invite contributors whose work aligns with the imprint’s ethos of feral inquiry and aesthetic risk. This approach nurtures an intimate and responsive publishing ecology — one attuned to the unstable thresholds of contemporary thought.
In 2024, Feral Press launched the Field Papers series, with A Tour of the Minuments of Manchester as its inaugural title. This ongoing collection explores the intersection of art, walking, language, and the built environment.

Field Papers #1: A Tour of the Minuments of Manchester
By Tim Brennan & Paul Wakelam
Softcover, 115 × 180 mm | 12.5pp | Printed 2024
The inaugural edition in the Field Papers series.
This work reimagines the urban walk as discursive performance — a dérive through inner Manchester guided not by monuments, but minuments: discarded, unnoticed, and provisional structures.
Inspired by Robert Smithson’s Monuments of Passaic, the artists walk, record, and reflect — producing a textual terrain of coordinates, citations, and encounters.
Part route, part ritual.
Part archaeology, part score.
A deliberately off-grid edition from Feral Press.
Published 2024.
Price: £12.50 +P&P
